Saptarang Celebrates

সপ্তরং-এর প্রথম দুর্গাপূজা

Saptarang is a vibrant community of people from North East India, bound together by the many hues of our shared heritage. Saptarang — meaning "Seven Colours" — reflects the diversity of our traditions, languages, and memories carried from home. After years of celebrating our festivals separately, we have finally come together to offer Maa Durga a grand, collective welcome.

This marks our first Durga Puja as a united community, and we hope to make every moment unforgettable — a celebration that honours our roots, strengthens our bonds, and fills our hearts with pride.

Mahalaya

মহালয়া — দেবীপক্ষের সূচনা
"At the break of dawn, when soft winds sway,
and All India Radio begins its sacred play—
Birendra Krishna Bhadra's timeless voice takes flight,
Mahishasuramardini rising with the light.

In that ancient chant, in that golden ray,
every devotee's heart whispers: Maa is on her way."

Mahalaya is the dawn when Devi Paksha begins — the new‑moon whisper that Maa Durga is on her way. Before sunrise, homes awaken to Mahishasuramardini, its ancient shlokas calling, “Jago Tumi Jago,” as the veil between worlds thins. At the riverbank, Tarpan honors the ancestors, reminding us that Durga Puja is memory and devotion woven together.

For us at Saptarang, Mahalaya 2026 carries an extra shimmer of joy. It is the morning we truly begin to believe — Maa is coming, and this year, we welcome her together for the very first time.
